Statement from JRLJ on AI generated works
Since its inception ten years ago, the JRLJ has always championed inclusivity and its criteria has been:
-Goans residing in Goa and the diaspora
-Non-Goans exploring Goa-related issues and themes.
- All residents of Goa.
The world has changed tremendously in the last ten years, and the role of the editor too now calls for extreme vigilance. We now live in the world of AI generated works and knowledge.
However, going forth, the JRLJ will:
Not publish submissions which do not pass the sniffer test for potential AI generated content.
It will seek original writing styles and content related to Goa.
This calls on me as an editor to seek greater depth, nuance, knowledge and perspective in what I publish rather than be taken in by flowery writing. JRLJ reserves the right to withdraw a story after publication if it detects AI material, plagiarism or any form of offence.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
(we’re keeping it simple)
Word count of up to 2,500, in Times New Roman font, a word-document only. Do not indent paragraphs.
Open to all residents of Goa, Goans in the diaspora, and non-Goans exploring Goa-related issues. Check our sections/back issues to see what we publish in fiction and non-fiction.
