We are open for submissions for a July issue
The JRLJ will publish a July 2026 issue. The theme is monsoon.
We welcome short stories, poems, memoirs, essays, and photo-essays around the theme of monsoon. This could include your recollections of monsoon traditions such as pickling before the rains or time spent at ancestral homes, etc.
Deadline 1 June 2026.
In the subject line of the email, please state “Submission for July issue.”
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
(we’re keeping it simple)
Word count of up to 2,500, in Times New Roman font, a word-document only. Do not indent paragraphs.
Open to all residents of Goa, Goans in the diaspora, and non-Goans exploring Goa-related issues. Check our sections/back issues to see what we publish in fiction and non-fiction.

You retain full rights to your work. If the story or essay is republished, please do acknowledge as having ‘first appeared in the Joao Roque Literary Journal.'
We are entirely self-funded and do not pay for published pieces.
